I can't say I liked it. I loved Anubis (aside from c*b stuff) but this requires more polish.

- First enemy in the game requires like two hits, has a very complex pattern involving pausing and running at you, and the way to defeat it is also relatively complex - you have to wait until it runs at you, jump over it, then it will pause mid-run, then you gotta hit it in the back while it's turned. ...Why? First enemy in the game should be something simple.

- Your attack feels terrible. It's weak, it's slow, it's got a small range, and it has a disgusting feeling pause after the attack. Like no lie, it feels viscerally wrong, it's a severe game feel issue. I know that Castlevania whip is also slow, but it somehow felt way better - probably because the hitbox of the whip is on-screen for entire duration, while here the attack is only active for a short while, and rest is static cooldown that completely freezes you in place - you don't deal damage, but you can't defend yourself either. Also I'm pretty sure that CV whip (attack notorious for being slow and unresponsive) is still faster than your current attack. This kind of attack would make sense in a deliberately-paced beatemup or fighting game, but in a fast platformer? Literally why?

The sword attack in Anubis didn't have this issue either, it was responsive and fun.

- First boss.... what the fuck? Okay so he jumps around the screen and throws fireball. That is about the pattern... of Bowser from SMB3. Okay uh... why is the FIRST boss of this game have the pattern of FINAL boss of another game? Don't you think that's a bit ridiculous? Hell, he's harder than Bowser - Bowser usually died in like 5 cycles, but your attack is so weak you might take longer; in addition to that, hitbox of himself and his flames are proportionally bigger than Bowser's. Again - why is a buffed final boss the first boss of this game?

In addition, this boss is a bit busted. Mega Man has plenty bosses that jump around the arena, but in this games you can either manipulate the AI to never get stuck in a corner, or you have enough time while he jumps to get under him, usually by sliding. But you can't do either here - if you get stuck in a corner, you eat damage, because he jumps so fast and so low (at least sometimes - it's inconsistent), and you move so slowly, so there's no good way of getting below him (unless his hitbox is unclear and not corresponding to the sprite - but if that's the case, that's already a problem). Yeah it might be 'technically' possible to avoid damage, idk - but why is this situation even here? Why I might be randomly presented with a situation where I have extremely low chance of avoiding damage? That is the furthest thing from 'fair'.

Like this a badly designed boss. His pattern is simplistic, sure - but that means nothing if only means of avoid damage is obscure or absurdly hard. You don't want to force player to learn an obscure trick to avoid damage from the boss - for example in a Kaizo game, you probably wouldn't put a shelljump in a bossfight. Here, why are you asking me to learn (entirely by trial and error) a really precise way - and only way - of avoiding damage? And the boss is designed that if you don't learn it, you literally can't beat him, because you will get cornered in every cycle - and you have very little health. Oh, I supposedly have 75 health (with the upgrade), but I lose like 20 every hit. If it's so necessary and obscure, teach it to me - you can't ask me to do trial and error to learn this vital piece of information! Give me a tutorial! Maybe have a round of a weaker version of this enemy with this exact pattern appear before, so I can learn the timing? I'm not asking for much - I'm only asking for the game to teach me it's rules.

All of this is part of a bigger issue - difficulty curve is lopsided. The game begins really hard at full blast. But that's not how difficulty curve should go! You can go really high - if you start slow. Again, not an issue in Anubis - it had a full blown tutorial section to start things off, and then things took quite a bit to ramp up (and because you could control where you go, you could control the pacing yourself). But here you're just thrown 0 to 100 in deep water immediately. Like even insanely hard games like Contra or Alien Soldier waited a bit before unleashing their full power level.

Final point are quality of life issues. Like currently using communicator is surrealy obscure, and you don't have to take my word for it - several people in this very comment section have asked how to answer the communicator. It also doesn't save frequencies which just absurd - like, every MG game after MGS saved used frequencies for a reason. The reason being is that having to write down frequencies is annoying, time consuming and is not actually fun gameplay.

If you still want to do that because you're so committed to the oldschool vibe - maybe give me in-game notepad? Like an actual in-game TXT file I can edit (with a keyboard, or on gamepad with a text input window). Deus Ex had that, it allowed me to edit my own notes for later, that was cool and it'd solve that problem - you could have your cake and eat it too, you would give player the oldschool vibe of making your own notes - but you also wouldn't require the player to actually bring out a piece of paper. And also - why is the animation for using savepoint so slow? If I'm using savepoint, I probably just died and want to get back to action, and this is just annoying.

Like there is things I like - the story seems interesting, I really like the dialog and the codec conversations, the gameplay in general is fun, especially jumping, and exploration is nice, and I love the art style, and I really appreciate I can play your game that features adults... I just hope the game can be polished up to live up to the potential.

agreed, i like the style and am currently just playing the demo, i feel like if all these (or at least most) problems were addressed i would be willing to buy it but so far its not selling me, you basically have to stand inside the enemy to hit it, you dont jump high enough or run fast enough to evade bosses, the only way i could defeat the bigbold is by stocking up on food and just tanking hits while attacking, and eating mid battle, also the phone calls every 7 seconds is a bit much, i dont need the boss to remind me to save, or the cat to tell me the pass still works, i dont hate the game, if i did i wouldnt comment, but until improvements are made im not going to buy the full thing.

Personally, I don't find the boss that hard. The 2nd boss fight is quite tricky because of all the rock and metal that are falling down. But I do agree that the attack feels pretty bad and maybe you should give the player some tips how to defeat the boss through the communicator. Also I didn't know that you can answer the call the entire time I was playing the game. Need to be clearer for sure

It looks like an error caused by attempting to run the game directly out of the zip file it's in. Try to fully extract the zip file into a folder on your computer, then run CosmobreederYiffai.exe from there.

Open the zip file in WinRAR, then click the "Extract To" button. Another window named "Extraction Path and Options" will pop up. Select the folder that you want to extract the game to, then click the OK button.


Then navigate to the folder that you extracted the game to and run the game by double clicking CosmobreederYiffai.exe.

Neither with controller nor the keyboard I can enter another menu than the game configuration menu

A really fun game! Though, when I played through the game again, I somehow managed to get the ENSIGN rank in the end (a different rank than I got the first time) and I don't even know how (I was trying to collect every item in the game, so maybe I collected something crucial?)... and now I am wondering if you can get something more than a LEWD-TENANT rank or an ENSIGN rank. Is there even anything else? I don't know and it's frustrating to NOT know. xF

Okay, I experimented with the game and got to a final conclusion:

The “ending” you get at the end of the demo is based on how much CLEAR TIME (from start to finish; if you die, the time after your last save is erased and only the time before your last save is kept in mind) it takes you to complete the game, so no collectables, no unlockables (so far in the demo, you can only miss 'AGENTS' scenes), no secrets, no items, etc. impacts your “ending.”

I managed to get 2 other ranks, a PRIVATE and a TRAINEE. I might have missed a rank between those two, I kept the game running for quite long without supervision (an hour and a half probably, I gave up counting it at that point xF). Then again, what other clothing than underwear and overalls can a cosmobreeder have under his/her spacesuit, when he'll strip them off anyway to research? You tell me!

And... I spent too much time wrting this, so I am going to just... stop writing more nonsense and go on with my life. Here are the screens of the other two “endings” for reference and I'm out of this essay heck:

How do you get the axe looking object near the first boss fight?

a pretty surprisingly faithful recreation of the old NES games. maybe a bit over the top with the CRT render, but very nostalgic, if you look past all the furry porn. it shows a lot of effort and quality that you tend not to see in pornographic platformers.

at heart it seems to be a metroidvania style platformer, but it's pulled the radio system straight from metal gear, and the save select system from zelda lol. 

in addition, unlike most porn platformers, you actually have to win to get lewd content. a bold choice.

I disagree, most porn platformers have  porn content as only the reward for beating the game. Personally I prefer, and it is much rarer to find, porn elements woven into the gameplay itself.


The initial idea for this game showed teasers of that porn and gameplay combination, but it seems that was abandoned for much easier and less interesting porn CG's at specified points that I'd rather just look at in a gallery.

So just before the transportation tube (end) theres this room with a breakable block and the only way to break it is to throw a rock that can be sold in the last shop close to it. Just wondering how to get this item? any more secrets around to get? 

In addition. theres also this item (around the area of the first 0 gate near the first shop after the 2nd boss fight) that seems impossible to obtain.

Do I always have to start with a fall everytime? It's that right or i miss the SAVE point?

We uploaded another new version today to alleviate additional false positives from antivirus software. I suggest completely removing the game folder and any zip files you downloaded before, then redownloading the game from itch.

In the event that your antivirus does still flag the game executable, you can delete the executable (or allow your AV software to delete it) and use the backup-run script included with the game to start it instead.

There are no plans for a mobile version, no.

Very enjoyable. Combat can be a little unfair at times, but that seems par for the course with metroidvania games. Looking forward to the full game.

You can beat the boss without needing to heal. Make sure to be off the ground when he lands and you can find a good rhythm to fight him.

Your copy of the game might not be able to create files because of where it is on your computer. Could you try making a folder on your hard drive like C:\cosmobreeder and moving the game there? A different drive letter should also be fine.

Okay so uhmmm, I wanted to try this, but Kaspersky detected it as a trojan, and deleted it. Odd.

yeah lol, like why would there be a trojan here of all places? Doesn't Itch.io automatically scan files for viruses? (idk)

We've made some changes to hopefully avoid false positives from antivirus software. 

If you download the current release on itch, it may work better for you.  Try the backup-run.cmd script in the event that your antivirus still removes the exe files.

Yeah, idk. I tried to whitelist and run the game anyway, and I'm 99% sure there was actually a trojan. My task manager stopped working, it wouldn't open up. The unzipped game folder refused to be deleted, even after asking for admin consent (however the request didn't seem to come from Microsoft, but from "unknown"). My PC started going slow. I immediately ran Kaspersky again, and did 2 reboots.

For reference, the name of the malware detected is called "UDS:Exploit.Win32.UAC", and it was found both in the game .EXE file, and the "Updater.EXE" file.

Maybe you should check your own game files with the antivirus, your PC might have a virus that automatically put itself inside the game files.

My files seem to be fine so far. I wonder if, maybe, my own PC was the cause of this, idk. Maybe a trojan was already hidden in my PC before, and then sneakily put itself in your game when I downloaded it; I have no idea.

For the record though, I would love to play this game, I think the presentation looked absolutely gorgeous and lovely, and having played Anubis & TBB, and loved that to BITS (and also had zero issues with it), I can say I'm very excited about this. I'm sure this is just some weird issue that my PC brought up because of whatever reason. I wish you the best of luck!

I'm having problems trying to run this game. When I try to open the exe file it does't do anything. It doesn't display any type of error, it just does not open at all. I downloaded the Visual C++ Redistributable already and tried chaging the compatibility mode and it still does not work. Help please, I really wanna play this

Some antivirus software can interfere with the game. Are you using any?

Where have you extracted the game to? On some systems, there can be permissions issues running software from the Desktop or from other folders that windows considers sensitive.

I'm using windows 10 pro 64bits, 20H2 version.

I'm not using any intivirus software besides windows defender, and I have it disable.

At first I extracted the game into a folder on my desktop, but moved it to my downloads folder and still does not open, even while running it as admin.

I've created a small cmd script that may help diagnose this:

Download this file and place it in the folder with CosmobreederYiffai.exe, then double click it to run.  This will attempt to launch the game while displaying a console window.

The error ("Pixel format not accelerated") is typically caused due to either your GPU not having OpenGL compatibility or, more likely, a problem with the video drivers.

What kind of GPU is installed on your system? If it's a relatively recent one, make sure that its drivers are installed and up to date.

Guide (so far)

    General Info: 1) Fresh save, 2) Skip all (that well done) dialogue, 3) Fall off all ladders doing down with [Jump]. 4) Ignore enemies while avoiding excessive damage. 5) Avoid taking ladders where possible

     Starting level: 

Fall down like normal, all damage here is avoidable without loosing time except for the bouncers (up and down ball things) because of their RNG speed. 

Collect the hidden drumsticks by attacking the broken walls in the level, they are needed to tank the boss. 

Collect as much money as you can on your path down, we'll need 15 collected and 25 secret to fulfill the one and only purchase during the game. 

The radio must be collected to trigger the opening. 

Get the 0-Card and [Crouch] under the 2nd down arrow to spawn the secret 25 money. 

Return to the shop and purchase 4 drumsticks. 

Ascend through the first 0-Gate and jump up the blocks, then over the gap to the cracked block containing your 6th drumstick, this should be enough for this boss fight, the second one usually requires an additional secret drumstick. 

Save if you're in danger of dying, but if not, break the cracked blocks before the boss room to drop down and acquire the Vitamin. The Vitamin will full heal you and boot max health for the boss fight.

BOSS: Stand your ground, spam attack, eat drumsticks, win. (Note: you should only need four to beat him, leaving two in stock for the next boss. P.S. Don't forget to equip the glowy-stick!!!)

After equipping your stick, run to the next 0-Gate, the next room will have a secret drumstick to punch out of a wall. (You should have 3 for the boss)

Fall/Run your way to the next save room, you'll want full health for the next fight.

BOSS: Final fight in the level, sometimes falling debris can stun lock you but its the same as the last fight,  don't worry about eating all your drumsticks, there is another full health in the next room, you'll need it to tank the debris on the way up.

Hard part is over, just hop, jump and climb your way to the telepad to end the level.

I believe the times are in hexadecimal. So 15B is 347 and your time 130 is 304.

My first attempt at a 100% run (all items, secrets, etc) I got 16A (roughly 6 minutes).

Wonder what the Menu DAYS time is though?

Hmm, seems like a good list except there are 4 money bags and one chip (the chip isn't used for anything yet, I think in the future it's used for upgrades at the shop).

Also, how to use PSY?

Nvm. To use PSY you need to hold [attack] for about 2 seconds, then release to swing.  No idea how strong it is, player stun lock prevents any effective use against non-stationary enemies.

Also, tip for the first boss, just farm the squirrel under the first save point for levels and money to by health from the shop, then just stand in his hitbox and spam [attack]. There is no real tactic that is more effective, even if you tried to actually doge his jump and slowly chip his health away, his fireball will still stun and damage you without warning from tiny melee range.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but it seems like a few values need to be tweaked for sure. Top two things I'd modify would be:

     1)  SPY to make it actually useful, like giving extra range or knockback (and charging quick enough to not have an enemy stun the player).

    2) Boss telegraphing, the first boss boi needs to give the player more reaction time for whatever he is going to do next (and if anything, I'd personally enjoy him backing away from the player to use his fireballs more).

This is so polished and beautiful and it's great that there are these two characters. It's working perfectly under wine for me.

Sorry about that! We didn't have an OS set on the demo package which was causing the itch app to fail to launch it. This should be fixed now.

Gotta agree. As they say in mobile games industry - best way to earn 1 mln usd is to sell game for 1$ to 1 mln people. High tiers may repel many potential supporters imho :< (fact that there are comments here about it means exactly that happened)

Unless “early builds” are like super bleeding edge and more regular monthly builds will be released to everyone or at least to lower tiers (some Patreon yiff games go this route). I can’t think of any yiff Patreon where lowest tier for builds is higher than 15.

I mean it’s not my game, I’m not one to make such decisions but seeing number of current backers I’d probably still recommend considering adding some poor’s man tier for monthly stable builds or sth.

My take as well. I mean the whole project is about the game and people wanna try builds. Then why shoving polls, concept art and dev journal in tiers before granting access to builds? Maybe most people are not in there for that.

The smallest $25 tier having builds is somehow steep.

Other projects contain builds at $5 and offer art, sketches etc above 10$ as extra thanks.

The game has a top notch presentation and fun gameplay. I look forward to it's development. I'm also very happy and impressed that the game offers both M/F and M/M content, which I'm sure will please many people.
I do have a few things I feel could use some attention.

  • On the radio, Yiffani is written as "Yifani". I don't know if it is intended to simulate old-school technical constraint, but it's there.
  • Having to load the start menu before selecting the map or the radio is time consuming, especially since radio calls are so frequent. Having button shortcuts to go straight to map/radio would help a lot.
  • Since this game reward speedrunning, maybe having an optional timer on screen would be nice.
  • The configuration should explain what "Extra Sprites" does as I don't have a clue.
  • The stat system isn't explained. Would be useful to have at least a section in the instructions to explain what each stat do. Speaking of which, Having a stat increase window upon leveling up would give some nice feedback on what actually changed upon increasing level.
  • I wonder why the Game Manual isn't simply among the game file.

You're doing a great job, I hope this project has a bright future. This is something I can see myself buy once it's completed.

I should add to this, while I'm personally used to it, I think the boss battle is a bit too hard for a first boss, especially for people not used to difficult games.
The way to defeat him is fairly easy to figure out, but the execution is difficult to get the hang on, personally, I think I would adjust his timing to be more forgiving for new players and increase the difficulty along the way as the game goes on.

Though my easy way involves quickly getting 4 drumsticks, a Vitamin and fighting through I-frames. 

Though if you want to beat him twice you need to grind out 15 extra money for two extra drumsticks, plus another hidden drumstick, and do the exact same thing.

I kinda liked the difficulty on this boss, it took me a bit of time to learn but i eventually got it, I rhink that if the difficulty ever got changed should be an option to make it easier, but honestly, i don't think is that necessary

Try the latest release. I've improved its error reporting on startup. 

In most cases, a crash on startup is caused by your graphics drivers not being up-to-date or your graphics card not being supported.
